🥹 I love this! I used to offer coaching sessions for other artists and this is exactly what I would tell them- stop looking now and go live for a while. Living and relaxing inspires us! It lets our minds wander and then suddenly we feel creative again!
Really enoyed this! I also like to think of creativity as something outside of myself that comes and goes. That way I'm forgiving of myself when it's not there.
I compare creativity to farming. Farmers know that they have to periodically not plant crops and leave the field fallow so soil is replenished. I have been writing poetry for 50+ years. There have been periods when I write a poem every day and other times when I write 3 or 4 a month. Sometimes our creativity needs a break.
One of my favorite books as a child was "I Lost My Bear" by Jules Feiffer, and this post reminds me so much of it. The best way to find something lost is to do many unsuccessful things, give up, and let it find you.
This is exactly how I randomly get ideas when I’m not looking for them. It’s like an “aha!” moment really. If I spend too much time obsessing over coming up with an idea, I end up wasting my entire day.
Love this! Last week we also published a piece on inspiration/finding your creative spark that was based on an interview with an artist, and his thoughts on it were pretty similar. Cool to see it translated in visual form :)

🙂 Great advice! So cute and creative 😁
Dear Kika,
Thank you for this! It made my day <3
I'm still looking for my spark, don't know where it got lost... I'm hoping for it to come back soon.
Thank you Megan!!! Your spark most definitely will come back. Excited to see what happens when it does 🧡

I feel this. I remember going through a similar phase after my father passed away.
Losing your spark means you're undergoing a phase of change.
It will return with new additions.
i love that, it's so true. thanks for the kind words!
You are very welcome 😁
