Makes me realize that I waited until midlife to make art because I didn't think it had meaning. But that's the way we're made to feel today about anything that doesn't have a concrete effect on the world. After a few years and many struggles, I've come to the conclusion that making art matters just by itself. I think it matters because it gives a voice, an expression, to the invisible. To things beyond this life that cannot be expressed otherwise. I think it's a service, though it cannot be measured.
